Daredevil, the film is an upcoming American superhero film based on Marvel Comics' Daredevil character, a blind attorney by day who becomes a crime-fighting vigilante at night. Jackman played the titular character in two Daredevil comic book series in the early to mid-1990s, as well as in the 2007 film The Rules of Attraction. The film is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the 21st entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by David Fincher from a screenplay by John Fusco, Kirk De Micco and Matthew Ross. Principal photography began in New Orleans on November 22, 2016. It is scheduled to be released on March 3, 2018 by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. On March 11, 2017, the film's title was revealed to be The Order, as in The Order: The Line of Divine Destiny. It is the first entry in Disney's "Dawn of Justice" crossover with the DC Universe.

In February 2014, David Fincher stated in an interview with The Playlist that "I'm doing a film based on a comics character" and "[I] love that guy", later adding that the film will "be a little bit more grounded than the original comic book. It will not be in the world of The Avengers or anything like that. It will be the world of The Untouchables, with all that that implies." In July 2015, Fincher stated that the film is set in New York City. Fincher later explained that "I've just wanted to do a period piece for a long time. It's not going to be the world of Spider-Man, it's not going to be the world of anything. It's just going to be a very dark, noirish crime story. It's got a lot of the things that I like." In July 2017, Fincher announced at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con International that his "Justice League Dark" project with Matthew Vaughn had been scrapped.
